Qihoo 360 Launches New Version of Broadband Speed Test Tool

Chinese Internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) has launched a new version of the company's broadband speed test tool. In addition to testing "Broadband Access Speed," the new version of the tool has added a new "Webpage Opening Speed" feature. With the "Webpage Opening Speed" feature, users can test their access speed on twelve different sites in three different categories: e-commerce, microblogging, and frequently used web pages.
 
Chinese state-owned television network CCTV 13 has recently run an investigative report on internet speed testing tools in China, the report criticized broadband speed test tools such as Qihoo 360's for being unreliable and inaccurate. CCTV 13 found some broadband speed test tools reporting speeds of up to 100M when actual speed was closer to 10M.
