Yahoo China won its unfair competition lawsuit against Chinese forum content aggregator and search provider Qihoo on December 20, reports Sina. Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court ordered Qihoo to pay 30,000 Yuan in compensation and 40,279 Yuan in legal fees to Yahoo China, as well a public apology. Yahoo China sued Qihoo in September for unfair competition after Qihoo said that Yahoo Assistant was malware. Qihoo's anti-virus software 360Safe also categorized Yahoo Assistant as malware. Qihoo president Zhou Hongyi said that Qihoo will appeal the ruling.
The drama between Qihoo and Yahoo China has little impact on either of the company's operation or the market in general; it is essentially a personal feud between Zhou, the former president of Yahoo China, and Yahoo China.
